Operations Financial Data Analyst

Chief Operations Officer

Location:

Tyler or Fort Worth, Texas - Only candidates currently residing in the Texas area will be considered. No relocation assistance or fully remote options available.

Job Summary: Integrates and analyzes data from multiple data sources, creates reports, and develops dashboards for various analytical, budgeting & forecasting, profitability, and operational efficiency initiatives. Interprets data to identify business trends, conduct root cause analysis of business problems, or suggest areas for process improvement.

Essential Functions:

Forecasting & Planning Support

  • Supports forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes for assigned business areas, including expenses, headcount, and/or revenue.
  • Prepares and maintains forecast inputs, models, and schedules under guidance from the COO and other senior leadership.
  • Assists in Monthly Forecasts, Annual Operating Plan, and long-range planning cycles by ensuring data accuracy and timely submissions.
  • Updates forecasts and models based on actual results, approved changes, and revised assumptions.

Reporting & Variance Analysis

  • Prepares standard monthly and quarterly reporting packages for Operations, including variance analysis versus budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Conducts comprehensive departmental and expense analysis to ensure timely and transparent reporting of operating performance, financial trends, and budget utilization.
  • Supports explanations of financial performance by gathering data, validating assumptions, and preparing draft narratives.

Analysis & Ad Hoc Support

  • Performs structured financial analysis to support business reviews, cost tracking, and operational decisions.
  • Analyzes basic trends and drivers, escalating risks, anomalies, or data issues to senior team members.
  • Responds to ad hoc data and analysis requests with accurate, well-organized outputs.

Business Partnership & Collaboration

  • Works with business partners to collect input, validate data, and clarify assumptions.
  • Collaborates with Accounting to support actuals close, data reconciliation, and variance explanations.
  • Partners with finance, accounting, and data team members to ensure consistency in data, definitions, and reporting.
  • Serves as Operations Organization liaison to business units throughout the Bank regarding operational data and reporting requirements.

Tools, Systems & Process Discipline

  • Uses FP&A, reporting, and data visualization systems and tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, Snowflake, Cognos, Axiom) to maintain forecasts, reporting, and dashboards.
  • Follows established financial planning and analysis processes, documentation standards, and control procedures.
  • Identifies data quality issues or process gaps and raise them to the team for resolution.
  • Makes recommendations to enhance procedures and business practices in a way that will improve efficiency within the organization.
  • Continuously evaluates processes and analytical tools seeking to deliver dynamic, forward-thinking analyses that help identify opportunities for efficiency gains and improvement.

Additional Functions:

  • Ability to analyze and comprehend financial statements, as well as to grasp the impact of financial information.
  • Ability to use historical trends to develop dynamic budgeting and forecasting models.
  • Excellent analytical and review skills, including ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals; comprehend technical procedures, government regulations and reports; and apply the information as needed to surface data insights for the financial institution.
  • Prepares/Reviews various account reconciliations.
  • Performs special projects as required.
  • Exchange ideas, information and opinions with others to formulate programs, data visualizations, and inform business decisions and solutions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive Bank information.

  • Performs duties in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and related anti-money laundering laws, and in accordance with the Bank's Information Security Program.

  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned or directed.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university majoring in finance, data science, economics or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, finance, data analytics, or a related field
  • Experience with data and statistical modeling, preferably in the disciplines of financial profitability and/or operational efficiency.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence software tools preferred
  • Knowledge of Al and a proactive interest in monitoring its evaluation to identify opportunities for integrating emerging tools into our workflows
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements and basic accounting concepts.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent computer skills, skilled user of all Microsoft Office applications; exposure to FP&A systems or BI tools is a plus but not required.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Activity/Dexterity:

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Works with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Physical Environment Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Constantly positions self to operate on a computer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with other people throughout each day. Must be able to exchange accurate information when conversing.

Working Conditions/Environment:

  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic).

Work Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday through Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm.
  • Available for overtime, as needed.
