JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, the landside agent maintains a safe, secure, and convenient landside airport environment. The primary responsibility of this position is the efficient operations of roadways and ground transportation activities for passengers' active loading, unloading and vehicular traffic. "Active Loading" means that only vehicles in the act of picking up a passenger and loading luggage are allowed to be at the curb. Additionally, this role ensures that all airport safety and security regulations as well as the ground transportation policy are being adhered to with a tactful and helpful demeanor. The ideal candidate will possess a "can do" attitude by responding quickly to ground and transportation policy challenges while representing TUL's commitment to its culture and core values--SOAR (Safety, Opportunity, Attitude, and Responsibility). Primary responsibilities are as follows: * In a fast-paced, heavily congested environment, helps enforce active loading curb management of upper and lower drives creating safe and efficient traffic flow for both pedestrians and vehicular traffic. * Coordinates passenger traffic as necessary while assisting the traveling public whenever possible. Provides numerous options for alternatives to parking on the curb. * Observes and reports unattended baggage and other suspicious situations to the proper law enforcement. * Directs traffic in often times heavily congested and emergency areas; assists with medical emergencies by clearing space for emergency vehicles and notifying dispatch of first responder locations. * Operates a two-way radio to transmit and receive information regarding traffic, emergencies, lost and found issues, flight information, etc. * Conducts airport roadway inspections for hazards, traffic congestion, and proper signage. * Enforces airport rules and regulations relating to ground transportation and security activities. * Works independently and exercises sound judgment and decision-making. * Communicates clearly and effectively to answer questions regarding traffic, parking, travel directions, and complaints with customers, employees, and contractors within the airport. * Reports incidents, safety hazards, security breaches and maintenance problems to appropriate department. * Works and communicates frequently with airport law enforcement officers. * Maintains regular on-time attendance and performs other duties as assigned pertaining to airport safety and security. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience: Graduation from high school or possession of a General Educational Development Certificate (GED) required; post-high school training, certification and experience in safety and security is preferred, and customer relations experience is a plus. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in difficult situations, and write legibly; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; and the ability to understand and influence the behavior of customers or the public in order to achieve job objectives and cause action or understanding. Must demonstrate ethics and integrity; be open to new ideas and challenges; display drive and purpose. Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include frequent standing and walking on hard surfaces for extended periods in frequent inclement weather; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds, occasional balancing, kneeling, bending, reaching, handling, feeling, smelling, and twisting, crawling and climbing; possess vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks. Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Driver's License; ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge. Working Environment: Working environment is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, with occasional indoor work as necessary. Position subject to occasional call back in emergency situations. Must be willing to work any shift including nights, weekends and holidays. Note: This classification is a "safety sensitive" position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing and Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Laws. As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
