The Technology Support Specialist provides technology support for students, faculty, and staff on a part-time basis. Assists users with technology resources, including hardware, software, network connections, technology accounts, and University systems. Responsible for audiovisual issue resolution in classrooms and in public areas during meetings and special events. Position Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $17.00 - $20.00. This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a level one to a level two technology support representative for the Office of Information Services.
- Manages the Technology Service Desk during evening hours, including email, telephone, and ticketing system responsibilities.
- Assists with access and usage of all University systems.
- Provides information and support for students, faculty, and staff with technology account activation, usage, troubleshooting.
- Remediates computer lab and classroom technology and audiovisual equipment issues.
- Remediates technical and audiovisual issues at campus events.
- May supervise and assign tasks to student employees.
- Escalates issues related to technology account access and system errors and outages to appropriate department leadership by phone in a prompt and detailed manner.
- Assists commuter and residential students with network connectivity issues in all campus buildings, including residence halls, and provides limited support for personally owned devices.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent college level coursework.
- Experience providing customer service in a professional setting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft and Apple operating systems, hardware, and software.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to multitask and provide quality assistance in urgent situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technology related experience in higher education.
- Experience maintaining classroom and audiovisual technology.
- Experience supporting technology system access and usage.
Work Hours This is a part-time position scheduled to work Monday - Wednesday, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Occasionally, evening hours may also be scheduled on Thursdays. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
