Department:Transit Services Department Organizational Unit:Bus Operations Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. $18.88 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Travels Countywide. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs entry-level service work in the operation of various public transportation vehicles weighing less than 26,001 pounds and are designed to transport passengers with mobility devices. REQUIREMENTS:Five (5) years of post-license driving experience is required, with no more than one (1) moving violation within one (1) calendar year. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis. Experience driving a van, bus, or other vehicle designed to transport passengers is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must obtain, within six (6) months of employment through the SCAT Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Training Program, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's license with a Passenger (P) endorsement and maintain both license and endorsement during the term of employment. All employees enrolled in the SCAT CDL Training Program are required to pass a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) physical, conducted by a medical provider under contract with Brevard County and sign a "Training Repayment Agreement". Must successfully complete a County-approved defensive driving course within thirty (30) days of employment. Must possess, or obtain within sixty (60) days of employment, a current basic first aid certification and a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification, from an approved agency, and maintain both certifications during the term of employment. All applicants must fill out and sign an Affidavit of Good Moral Character. Must be able to successfully complete a criminal, a driver's license, and a personal background investigation conducted by Brevard County and/or another agency. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed. This position is safety sensitive position as defined by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Testing regulations.
