The Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional for an Outreach Specialist role. The successful candidate will join the Information and Referral team within the Department of Family Services, which envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. Job Summary

Are you passionate about helping individuals and families access the support they need? We're looking for an Outreach Specialist to connect with residents and community partners to increase awareness and understanding of Virginia's Public Assistance Programs, including SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and Medicaid.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies to educate the public and community organizations about available benefits and application processes. You'll represent the agency at community events, health fairs, and educational sessions, sharing vital information and assisting customers with applications and eligibility questions.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct direct outreach to community members and partner organizations.
- Develop and deliver presentations on public assistance programs.
- Assist customers with navigating and completing benefit applications.
- Plan, coordinate, and attend community events and public education campaigns.
- Create outreach materials and maintain records of engagement activities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and the Information and Referral team to promote awareness initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess experience determining eligibility for or working with public assistance programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, or similar programs. They will have strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences, as well as excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with the public, co-workers, and community partners, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to support community outreach events.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma and four (4) years of related experience in a customer service or social service/human services setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
Bilingual skills in Spanish and English.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks, including credit, criminal, and driving (DMV) record checks. This position may require a CPS check depending on the program area.
Valid driver's license and good driving record when required for job-related duties. (Driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification.) Hold or obtain certifications required by the Department.
