At ACP, we are committed to your learning, growth, and professional development - building evidence-based knowledge, skills, and expertise - while equipping you to provide timely access to quality care, manage a sustainable practice, navigate the business side of mental health, deliver an exceptional client experience, and attend to your own health and wellbeing.

  • Individual and Group Supervision: 1-2 hours of weekly individual supervision along with twice monthly group supervision
  • Twice-monthly case consultation with colleagues ranging from those new to the field to those with decades of experience
  • Cross-disciplinary learning from professionals in social work, clinical counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and psychiatry
  • Exposure to diverse practice settings, including traditional outpatient clinics, our locally and nationally certified DBT program, in-home and school-based therapy, and work with clients in skilled nursing, long-term care, and assisted living facilities

This breadth of experience will deepen your appreciation of the many ways you can make a meaningful contribution to the communities you serve.

The Post-Master's Associate Clinician Role

The Post-Master's Associate Clinician role is designed for pre-licensed Mental Health Practitioners who meet qualification requirements to be a clinical trainee as defined by Minnesota Statute. This position is designed to be a 1-2 year full-time commitment in which you will receive 2,000-4,000 hours of supervised experience depending on your licensing board requirements and previous supervised experience.

After completing a minimum of one year of supervision, and with the endorsement and support of your supervisor, ACP will offer you the option of a schedule that includes hybrid work opportunities that blend in-person treatment and up to one day per week of remote telehealth service delivery. This option provides an opportunity for you to experience a hybrid practice which has become the most common model of practice in the outpatient mental health field since 2020.

As a Post-Master's Associate Clinician, under the supervision of an experienced licensed clinician, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based approaches.
  • Provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, groups or families with a wide range of presenting concerns.
  • Maintain timely and confidential clinical documentation, including diagnostic assessments, progress notes and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Uphold ethical standards and foster a safe, inclusive space for all clients.
  • Learn how to effectively balance offering timely access and availability to the communities that we serve with the art of meeting the needs of a diverse, unique, and ever-changing client population.
  • Attend and participate in twice weekly supervision meetings (one individual supervision meeting is required, second can be individual or group if available)
  • Attend monthly outpatient (licensed) clinician focused case consultation meetings (as time allows)
  • Attend other meetings as required by your supervisor or the clinic.
  • Shadow other clinical professionals within one or more of ACP's four divisions.

What You'll Learn

  • Multidisciplinary clinical practice - gain insight into approaches and perspectives from professions beyond your own, within a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.
  • From experienced mentors - draw on the knowledge of seasoned professionals with decades of real-world clinical experience.
  • Within a peer learning cohort - grow alongside fellow clinicians at a similar stage of professional development, learning as much from each other as from your supervisors.
  • The full picture of professional practice - master not only the evidence-based foundations of high-quality clinical care, but also the art of managing a successful practice and building a sustainable mental health business.

What You'll Need

  • Graduate Degree and seeking LICSW or LPCC
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and clinical judgment.
  • Comfort with diverse populations and a passion for inclusive care.
  • A professional and personal growth and development mindset and willingness/ability to receive and constructively utilize, internalize, or employ feedback from your supervisors.

What We Value

  • Creativity and openness to innovative treatment approaches.
  • A deep commitment to reducing human suffering through evidence-based interventions and therapeutic methods.
