Job Description
Position Overview


At the direction of the VP of Transitions, the Store Transitions and Operations Business Partner will travel to stores and fill in as a temporary Store Manager as requested by the Regional Manager and Group VP to support store operations in all aspects of the business. Participate in the opening and closing of all transitioning stores executing all aspects of the transition process as needed. Demonstrated independent/problem-solving individual able to tolerate extensive US and Canadian travel.

Responsibilities


  • Manages transition/operational projects and supervises employees at the store level, including daily store operational procedures such as monitoring cash flow, managing inventory, merchandising, etc., during transition or in the absence of the store manager. Trains and orients employees' plans and assigns work to others. Evaluate employee job performance and counsel employees as needed. Has hire/fire authority upon review with RM/SVP. Maintains accurate records and data, including financial, operational reports, and business correspondence. Reports progress in training/operations to RM relative to store status/store team. At times some of these functions for multiple stores may be performed virtually.
  • Coordinate with the RM/GVP the store opening and closing process, outlining timing and tasks that need to be accomplished and providing leadership to ensure a successful opening or closing within the predefined timeframe (typically one week). Coordinate closing processes to ensure the store is ready for the transition, including inventory and equipment (including computers and networks). Take the lead in the inventory buy-out process to certify all inventory purchased is accounted for and purchased at the correct price. Quickly communicates challenges/opportunity to RM/GVP, Transition VP.
  • Set up or dismantle computer network and equipment in each new store, connecting/disconnecting it to the Follett WAN. Troubleshoot all-new store equipment working with Follett Support Center ticketing system and/or outsourced vendor to ensure the store is able to function and is set up with PCI standards and functionality and system access for store teams in conjunction with RM.
  • Coordinate work with outside vendors for the set-up and dismantling of equipment and other Follett property at openings and closing as Preparation for Store inventory and asset disposition process.
  • Manages customer service issues with store teams, students, faculty, campus contacts, and vendors. Establishes and builds good working relationships.
  • May fill in for Text Manager with a primary focus on performing text duties and responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of FHE system knowledge preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous store management experience is required.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, networking, Follett, and Microsoft applications, in particular basic familiarity with Excel.
  • Knowledge and experience in textbook/digital and general merchandise acquisition and disposition.
  • Familiarity with FHE company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a troubled store environment handling stressful situations while organizing and prioritizing workload.
  • Ability to travel weekly 90% (Monday - Friday); approximately 45 weeks per year; 3 to 4 road nights per week to store locations within the US and Canada.
  • Valid Driver's License and Passport are required to meet the rental car and US/Canadian entry requirements.
  • Must have completed all required Follett Training Modules and Certifications.

The annual salary/hourly rate range has been established based on the role, experience, skill set, and location. The exact starting salary/hourly rate within the range will depend on the role and the local market. This position may be eligible to participate in one of the Company's incentive plans. The amount of any incentive payment varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
