This job manages a broad spectrum of electrical work, be highly skilled in interpreting electrical diagrams/schematics, utilizing electrical diagnostic equipment, troubleshooting of all electrical control circuitry and distribution equipment, revisions and design of said circuitry, proper switching and isolation of equipment, and knowledgeable in virtually all electrical applications and intricacies specific to the Alsip site. |
| Activities |
- Perform diversified electrical and electronic instrumentation duties. Electrical duties would include preventive maintenance of motors and other electrical apparatus, switchgear, MCCs, Variable Frequency Motor drives, electrical distribution and power panels in voltages ranging from 120V AC to 480 Volts 3 phase. Lighting and lighting fixture maintenance is included; knowledge of 277V lighting a plus. Must have computer skills that include maintenance work requests and purchase requisitioning.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, test and diagnostic meters as well as electronic instrument calibration devices. Additionally the applicant would have experience in operating forklifts and/or aerial equipment.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and off hours. Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during planned outages. Will be part of an on call rotation. Must be able to communicate with outside vendors or contractors to perform small capital project work.
- Perform electro/mechanical skills including, but not limited to electrical troubleshooting and repair of production machines and related apparatus.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance, calibration and service. Can read and interpret One-line drawings, electrical/electronic schematics and related drawings/diagrams. Company, Local and National Electrical Code (NEC) knowledge is needed.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment and plant facilities and update maintenance records and equipment history.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Will be a team member on various site teams (ex: Health and Safety Team)
- Add and change PM's and equipment in SAP.
- Source and purchase Instrumentation and electrical parts as needed.
- Provide support for Project Engineer(s) for specifying, sourcing and startup of electrical and instrumentation systems on projects.
- Provide support to Automation Team to resolve Instrumentation issues with the DCS (Delta V)
- On site certified Illinois UST A/B Operator to maintain Monomer UST instrumentation
- Update and modify Instrumentation and Electrical Procedures as necessary.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Comply with the HSEQ Policy.
- Comply with Regulations, Legal and Internal Requirements as made known by the site and by the business unit (BU).
- Comply with the rules of the specific location to which one is assigned as well as the rules set by the business unit (BU) and Arkema Inc.
- Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, aka SP, SOP, PWI, TM, to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
- Review their work areas for potential losses and Report hazards to the direct supervisor.
- Report Near Misses to the direct supervisor.
- Report Incidents or Accidents to the direct supervisor.
- Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
- Participate in HSEQ activities provided by the site management, Arkema Coating Resins and Arkema, Inc.
- Ensures workplace safety by conducting safety observations and reviews while adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
- Participate in the maintenance department on-call rotation schedule to service equipment failures during off-hour shifts.
- Completes all assigned Impact items
- Supports all AIMS initiatives
- All other duties as assigned.

| Context and environment |
This position will be based in Alsip, Illinois. Maintenance work will occasionally require confined space entries, working at elevated heights, using respirators, working outdoors, etc. |
Accountabilities |
Responsible for performing highly diversified electrical and instrumentation duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and preventive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives. |
Qualifications / experience required |
- Requires a HS diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production electrical and instrumentation experience. Documentation of training/experience must be at the level to rate the applicant as an Electrical Qualified person (Certified Electrician).
- 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong electrical/electronic and industrial skills.
- Must be a highly motivated team player and able to work independently.
- Experience with digital and analog computer machine interfacing, a plus.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
- Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding or powered lifts when required.
