THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is looking for a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to join the Clinical Services team at Clarks Summit State Hospital. We are looking for someone who is caring, motivated, and confident in providing important medical services to our patients. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides medical care to adults and older patients by performing assessments, creating treatment plans, and coordinating care with a clinical team. As a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, you will perform the following duties:

  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct patient histories, physical exams, and evaluations for complex health needs
  • Diagnostic Tasks: Order and interpret lab tests, imaging studies, and consultations
  • Treatment Planning: Develop care plans and prescribe appropriate medications or therapies
  • Patient Monitoring: Observe patient progress during daily rounds and adjust care as needed
  • Team Collaboration: Work with physicians, staff, patients, and families to coordinate care
  • Emergency Response: Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies and follow established procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work schedule may changed based on operational needs.
  • Possible evening, weekends and holiday on-call responsibility.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • Note: New hires may be eligible for a $1,000.00 Retention Incentive Payment, provided you meet all criteria outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Conditions of Employment:

  • You must be in possession of a valid CRNP certification in the Adult Care or Family Care specialty area as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Post Employment Requirement:
  • You must obtain and maintain valid CRNP Prescriptive Authority Approval to prescribe and dispense drugs as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
