THE POSITION

The Insurance Market Conduct Examiner 1 role with the Insurance Department gives you the chance to protect consumers across the state. You will help ensure that insurance companies follow important laws that keep families safe and informed. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on reviewing the practices of health insurance companies to help protect consumers and ensure legal compliance. The work supports fair treatment for people across Pennsylvania. As a Insurance Market Conduct Examiner 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Data Requests: Assist in preparing examination data calls and other requests for insurance company information
  • Sampling Methods: Apply proper random sampling techniques to gather information from company records
  • File Review: Examine policy forms, claims, complaints, and other records to assess compliance with state and federal laws
  • Interview Support: Help prepare and conduct interviews with company staff to understand business practices
  • Compliance Analysis: Assist in reviewing financial and non financial requirements related to mental health parity laws
  • Reporting Work: Prepare summary reports, review company responses, and support development of exam findings

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Insurance Market Conduct Examiner Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of professional experience in insurance market conduct examinations, insurance company financial examinations, insurance investigations, insurance financial analysis, insurance underwriting, insurance policy review and analysis, insurance claims administration, or insurance sales, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
