Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Boiler Superintendent at our Madison, GA plywood facility. This role leads boiler and steam system operations in a continuous manufacturing environment, driving safe, reliable, and compliant performance. The Boiler Superintendent will build a culture of safety, ownership, and continuous improvement while optimizing system reliability and efficiency.


What You Will Do

  • Drive safety excellence by identifying hazards and implementing effective controls, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work practices
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team through clear expectations, coaching, feedback, and accountability
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of boiler and steam systems to meet production needs
  • Drive equipment reliability through planning and execution of maintenance, including PM/PdM programs and prioritization of critical work
  • Analyze operational data (e.g., steam demand, fuel usage, downtime) to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, inspections, certifications, and regulatory requirements
  • Optimize system performance, including water chemistry, combustion processes, and fuel/steam efficiency
  • Maintain performance data, reporting accuracy, and required boiler logs

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience supervising in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience with boiler, steam plant, or utility systems
  • Experience leading or developing teams in an operations or maintenance environment
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar systems

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field
  • Boiler operator license or relevant certification
  • Experience in wood products or other high steam-demand manufacturing environments
  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, MP2)
  • Knowledge of boiler/pressure vessel codes, water chemistry, and combustion systems
  • Experience with reliability programs, maintenance planning/scheduling, and predictive technologies
  • Experience using root cause problem-solving methods (e.g., RCA, 5-Why, A3)
