Assists Manager in providing work leadership and guidance for Couriers to ensure smooth and continuous flow of work and high-quality performance. Oversees timely pickup and delivery of all biological samples from the client to designated location, adhering to prescribed transportation criteria and laboratory policies. Oversees core duties and training with the review of leadership for all couriers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Valid driver's license with good driving history.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years of courier experience.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Provide timely pickup and delivery of all lab supplies and lab packages.

2. Ensure lab orders are complete and organized prior to delivery.

3. Collaborate with staff to obtain the correct supplies and paperwork.

4. Adhere to delivery schedule and reports back to the hospital once deliveries are complete.

5. Perform a daily cleaning of vehicle.

6. Maintain a vehicle maintenance log.

7. Monitor periodic maintenance and inspections.

8. Pick orders, unloads trucks, and puts supplies away in the stockroom.

9. Assist with administrative duties of Clinical Outreach as well as receives and transports specimens, reports, supplies, and other documents, as described in the SOP's.

10. Oversee couriers, courier daily functions, assist in training of new and incumbent couriers. Instruct couriers on job related issues and educate when necessary. Perform courier competency assessment by riding on all routes with all couriers to maintain proper protocols.

11. Create all routes adding/deleting stops as business dictates. Adheres to established schedule for courier routes and adjust routes if needed for STAT pick-ups.

12. Accept requisitions and patient specimens for testing that are properly collected and labeled, in accordance with established laboratory policies.

13. Create accounts for new patients. Complete manual short form registration and scanning document in the LIS.

14. Perform required quality checks and documentation as required by SOP's. Report any vehicle accident or maintenance to the security department. Record all deviations from standards for proper specimen transport and stability (as per SOP's) and indicates action taken and rationale for action. Call physician offices to clarify any discrepant, missing, or illegible information.

15. Maintain all specimen logs and records accurately, neatly, and legibly in ink (unless otherwise required), 100% of the time.

17. Utilize time, materials, and resources in an economical manner, prioritizing the client's needs and requests.

18. Enter lab orders into the LIS. Identifies specimens and label with primary barcode label.

19. Maintain effective communication with the Administrative Director, Manager, or Medical Director to assure dissemination of information and identification of problems in support of the hospital's mission of patient care.

20. Utilize the proper laboratory procedure manuals to assist offsite employees or office staff on correct collection procedures.
