The Position

The Port of Portland is hiring a Customer Experience Event Intern for the Portland International Airport (PDX)!

As a Customer Experience Event Intern, you'll play a key role in planning meaningful programs while building skills in event coordination, customer experience, and stakeholder collaboration.

To be considered for this intern position you must be a current student enrolled in an Oregon/Washington school for the duration of employment. Spring 2026 graduates will not be eligible for this internship unless documentation of continued educational classes (graduate school documentation related to the field) can be provided at the time of application.

Duration: Expected sunset date on or around May 31, 2027. Compensation is determined by school year and experience.

Essential Job Duties

  • Support Employee Engagement and Recognition Events
    • Support planning, logistics, and execution of employee engagement and recognition events.
    • Facilitate on-the-spot recognition efforts by preparing recognition materials and coordinating distribution of gift cards and awards.
    • Collaborate with communications and social media teams to promote employee engagement initiatives and highlight recognition programs.
  • Assist with Accessibility and Community Events
    • Support events by planning logistics an assisting as needed.
    • Participate in program tracking, inventory management, and documentation related to accessibility and engagement initiatives.
    • Coordinate accessibility committee meetings and stakeholder engagement sessions.
    • Prepare materials and logistics for meetings, training, and outreach activities.
  • Evaluate and assess the impacts of Accessibility and Employee programming to identify areas for improvement, including consolidating events, maximizing the reach of events, and identifying ways to improve the impact of each events' objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in an Oregon/Washington accredited college or university and seeking a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Student must also provide current unofficial transcript at time of application.
  • Maintenance of a minimum 2.5 grade point average and continued enrollment in classes pertinent to the internship is required.
  • Maintain a valid state driver's license is required.
  • Must successfully pass and maintain clearance of a comprehensive Criminal History Records Check and a Security Threat Assessment for a PDX Security Badge, are required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional, motivated, and persistent with a positive, sociable attitude.

Supplemental and Selection Information

SELECTION PROCESS (tentative schedule):

  1. A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of June 22, 2026.

  2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials including any responses to the supplemental questionnaire.

  3. Our goal is to schedule panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be notified after interviews are complete, with a tentative start date in July 2026.
