Job Title: CNC / Manual Grinder Machinist
Location: Sutton MA
Employment Type: Temp to Hire
Industry: Engineering and Manufacturing
Compensation: $24.64 to $36.96 DOE
Schedule: 1st shift. May train on 2nd shift.
Hours 6am-3:30pm + OT as business needs dictate.

What You'll Do:
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC grinding machines.
  • Program CNC grinding equipment using conversational and machine programming.
  • Perform OD, ID, surface, cylindrical, and gear grinding operations.
  • Hold tolerances as tight as .0001 inches on precision components.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and specialized inspection tools.
  • Perform gear grinding operations, including tooth modifications and finished gear inspections.
  • Work on large, complex components weighing more than 4,000 pounds.
  • Troubleshoot machining and quality issues to ensure production efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Train and mentor less experienced machinists and operators.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Job Requirements
What You'll Bring:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical School education preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC and/or manual grinding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3 + years' experience with precision grinding to extremely tight tolerances.
  • 3 + years' knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
What Sets You Apart:
  • Ability to accurately use advanced measuring equipment.
  • Experience machining large-scale industrial components preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
