Summary:
The Special Education Teacher - Autism Preschool role designs, implements, and oversees the educational services for students in year-round special purpose schools. The Special Education Teachers are integral members of the multidisciplinary education and treatment teams and support implementation of each student's positive behavior support plan within the educational setting.

    * Eligible candidates may receive a signon bonus of up to $5,000, paid in accordance with program guidelines.

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
    2. License/Certifications: Maine Department of Education: Certification 282 - Teacher of Children with Disabilities/Pre-K required.
    3. Experience: One year of teaching experience with children with developmental disabilities required.
    4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: DOE fingerprinting required.
    5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Expertise and knowledge in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Knowledge and skills to provide education and care to children 3-5 years of age.
