As a Residential Program Trainee with the Bedford-Somerset Developmental and Behavioral Health Services (DBHS), you will help individuals grow stronger and more confident in daily life. This position offers meaningful hands-on experience supporting people in a residential setting, helping to teach life skills, encourage independence, and support personal progress. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Residential Program Trainee, the incumbent will help individuals learn daily living skills, build independence, and stay safe in a residential setting. This role supports personal growth through teaching, guidance, and teamwork. Work also involves assisting with the development and implementation of service plans. This position is responsible for the following duties:

  • Daily Living Support: Teach skills such as hygiene, nutrition, safety practices, and daily routines
  • Independent Skills: Help individuals develop problem solving, communication skills, and other abilities for community living
  • Direct Care Tasks: Assist with cooking, shopping, housekeeping, laundry, and other home activities
  • Community Assistance: Support individuals with transportation, family interactions, medication tasks, and money management
  • Documentation Work: Maintain records, complete reports, and share updates during team meetings
  • Safety Practices: Follow fire and safety rules, participate in drills, and help ensure a safe living environment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week, shift work including weekends and holidays.
  • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands or in the event of an emergency.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
