Are you a healthcare professional looking to transition into a rewarding specialty that directly impacts patient safety and quality of care? ChristianaCare is seeking an aspiring Infection Preventionist I to join our team and develop expertise in one of healthcare's most critical disciplines.

In this role, you will be responsible for learning and implementing fundamental infection prevention and control (IPC) components including conducting surveillance, assisting with investigations of outbreaks, rounding, and education for all caregivers.

The Infection Preventionist I will primarily focus on surveillance of healthcare-associated infections to include chart review, data abstraction, data collection and application of the National Health and Safety Network (NHSN) definitions. In addition, knowledge and skills of other infection prevention and control practices will be developed, such as education program design, policy and procedure review, construction, accreditation readiness, high level disinfection and sterilization and participation in quality performance improvement activities to promote patient safety.

Work Hours: Day Shift with scheduled On-call requirement.

Location: ChristianaCare Cecil Campus with some travel to Newark and Wilmington campuses as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, biology or other scientifically / health science related field required.

  • Master's degree in nursing, public health, biology or other scientifically / health science related field preferred

  • Two- three (2-3) years of healthcare related experience (i.e. Nursing, Respiratory, Medical Laboratory, Pharmacy) required.

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) Certification Board of Infection within 24 months required.

  • Appropriate clinical license required (DE RN license, Respiratory, Pharmacy). MD license required for Cecil campus.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Walking, some lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying items, as well as, sitting and using the computer for prolonged periods. Some travel between facilities and in the community is required.

Annual Compensation Range $79,497.60 - $127,212.80 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
