The Software Delivery & Operations group designs, develops, and operates the shared platforms, tools, and processes that enable Sonos teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently and securely.

We're seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to drive initiatives that improve developer experience, software quality, and operational excellence through better systems, smarter processes, and strategic use of AI.

This role operates closely with platform engineering, release engineering, and developer productivity initiatives across Sonos software development. It sits at the intersection of software development, platform engineering, and engineering enablement, shaping the systems and workflows that power Sonos product development across cloud, mobile, web, and embedded platforms. It's ideal for a technically fluent leader who loves creating clarity, structure, and continuous improvement in complex, cross-functional environments.

Location: This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office location and should expect to be in office a minimum of 3 days per week.

  • You care deeply about how software gets built and are motivated to make engineering teams more effective.
  • You have a solid foundation in program and project management and are continuing to build your technical fluency across software systems, developer tooling, and engineering operations.
  • You are organized, collaborative, and comfortable coordinating work across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • You are passionate about modern software development practices, including AI-assisted development, automation, CI/CD, and developer productivity tooling.
  • You enjoy bringing structure and clarity to ambiguous problems and can independently drive well-defined initiatives with support from senior team members.
  • You are eager to learn from experienced engineering and program leaders while steadily increasing ownership and scope over time.
  • You stay informed on emerging trends in developer tooling, AI, and software delivery practices, and are excited to apply new ideas in practical ways.
What You'll Do Program Operations and Execution
  • Support planning cadences, status reviews, and cross-functional coordination across engineering and platform teams.

  • Help maintain work tracking and reporting systems using tools such as Jira, GitHub, and Confluence.

  • Build workflow automations using APIs across systems such as Jira and Confluence, leveraging AI-assisted development tools including Claude Code to accelerate experimentation and operational improvements.

  • Assist with dependency management, risk tracking, and execution follow-through across multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Contribute to the evolution of engineering metrics and operational reporting frameworks such as DORA and SPACE.

  • Build experience managing increasingly complex technical programs over time.

Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in technical program and project management, engineering operations, or related roles within software or platform-focused environments.

  • Familiarity with modern software development practices including Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and DevSecOps.

  • Hands-on experience configuring or operating engineering tools such as GitHub and GitHub Actions, Jira and Confluence, Jenkins, or AWS.

  • Experience with AI-assisted development using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or Cursor.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders in technical environments.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate initiatives, improve processes, or support operational execution within technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in developer experience, platform engineering, and software delivery operations.

  • Understanding of software delivery metrics or operational reporting concepts.

  • Familiarity with cloud, mobile, web, or embedded software development environments.

  • Desire to grow into broader technical program leadership responsibilities over time.

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:

$146,000 and $182,000

The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate's geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
