Job Summary

The Engineer is responsible for managing, evaluating, and coordinating project information to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract specifications. This role oversees project documentation, supports design coordination, supervises engineering support staff, and serves as a key liaison among project stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities




  • Serve as a liaison with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, and owner representatives to resolve issues related to plans and specifications.



  • Review contract drawings and subcontract information to ensure alignment with project estimates and requirements.



  • Manage project budgets by monitoring costs and evaluating financial performance.



  • Oversee submittals and shop drawings to ensure conformance with contract specifications.



  • Negotiate and manage change orders, including impact analysis, approvals, and conflict resolution.



  • Supervise the project close-out process, including RFIs, warranties, as-builts, O&M manuals, attic stock, and spare parts.



  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns.



  • Prepare scopes of work for trades and coordinate subcontractor responsibilities.



  • Develop and maintain project reports, including general conditions items, labor tracking, safety logs, change order logs, and quality control documentation.



  • Schedule and lead subcontractor coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings, and submittal review meetings.




Job Requirements




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field required.



  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.



  • Previous experience in biotech or pharmaceutical construction projects strongly preferred.



  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.



  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and LEAN technologies.



  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.



  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch as required.



  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.



  • Ability to work in environments that may include moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, caustic chemicals, and moderate to very loud noise levels.



  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
