Logistics Specialist (Production Planning & Control)
Pay Rate: $60,000 - $80,000/year
Job Type: Direct Hire
Location: Farmington, CT
Schedule: Monday - Friday | Full-Time

Job Summary
We are seeking a Logistics Specialist with strong hands-on production planning and production control experience in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing production schedules, coordinating manufacturing priorities, resolving day-to-day shop floor issues, and ensuring production plans align with customer demand and operational capacity.

The ideal candidate has direct experience working on the manufacturing floor and collaborating daily with Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Warehouse teams to support manufacturing execution. This is not a logistics-only or administrative planning role-we are looking for someone who has actively supported production operations and understands the realities of a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop, release, and manage production orders based on customer demand, production priorities, and MRP recommendations.
* Monitor daily production schedules and adjust priorities to support changing operational needs.
* Work directly with Production Supervisors, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues and minimize downtime.
* Track work order progress and ensure ERP production data accurately reflects shop floor activity.
* Identify production bottlenecks and implement process improvements to improve workflow and manufacturing efficiency.
* Coordinate material availability to support uninterrupted production.
* Monitor manufacturing capacity, production output, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
* Track and report key manufacturing KPIs including On-Time Delivery (OTD), schedule attainment, and production performance.
* Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and material reconciliation.
* Assist with shipping and warehouse coordination as needed to support production flow.
* Generate reports and analyze operational data to support production planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Serve as the primary liaison between Production and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturing schedules align with customer demand.

Required Qualifications
* High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Logistics, or related field preferred.
* Minimum of 2 years of hands-on production planning or production control experience within a manufacturing environment.
* Experience managing production schedules and changing production priorities on the shop floor.
* Proven experience resolving day-to-day production issues while working closely with Production, Quality, * Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, capacity planning, and MRP/ERP systems.
* Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Business Central, JD Edwards, or similar.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience supporting manufacturing execution and shop floor operations.
* Experience with production scheduling, production control, or manufacturing planning.
* Knowledge of OEE, production KPIs, inventory control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Experience supporting inventory management and warehouse operations within a manufacturing facility.
