Our Commercial Litigation Practice specializes in representing clients in high-stakes business disputes across a wide range of industries. We provide expert legal services in areas such as contract disputes, class actions, business torts, shareholder and partnership disputes, antitrust litigation and intellectual property litigation. Our team handles all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation counseling and strategic planning to trial and appellate proceedings. By leveraging our deep legal expertise, global reach and strategic insights, we help clients navigate complex legal challenges, protect their business interests, and achieve favorable outcomes through both court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution methods.
Duties and Accountabilities
Design and execute litigation strategies for a variety of high-stakes matters including commercial disputes, internal investigations, corporate governance issues, and arbitration-related proceedings (10%). Advise a diverse client base including multinational corporations, funds, partnerships, and individuals on complex litigation and regulatory challenges (5%). Draft high-quality legal documents including briefs, memoranda, correspondence, and examination outlines (10%). Support all phases of discovery, trial preparation, and courtroom proceedings (5%). Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy and client advice (10%). Participate in witness interviews, client meetings, and settlement negotiations (8%). Analyze evidence to develop factual narratives and strategic approaches (1%). Maintain clear and professional communication with clients across various formats (including phone, email, and in-person) (8%). Advise clients on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity compliance with a focus on emerging technologies and global regulatory frameworks (7%). Lead litigation strategy for disputes involving data protection, defamation, intellectual property, consumer protection, and contract issues, often coordinating with local counsel across jurisdictions (5%). Conduct legal risk assessments for new products, business models, and internal policies, particularly in the context of Latin American data protection laws (5%). Research and present legal analyses on global issues affecting social media platforms including intermediary liability, hate speech, and defamation (10%). Monitor and advise on proposed and existing legislation related to data protection and technology across multiple jurisdictions (1%). Collaborate directly with clients to align legal strategy with business goals while regularly updating partners on case progression and strategic developments (5%). Supervise junior associates and legal staff, providing guidance on research, drafting, and client communications to ensure quality and consistency (9%). Review and coordinate work produced by junior lawyers, foster professional development and maintain high standards of legal service delivery (1%). Salary: $420,000-$450,000 per year.
Qualifications
LL.M., J.D., or U.S. equivalent in law plus 3 years of professional experience as an Attorney, Associate, or Law Clerk, or any occupation/position/job title providing legal advice to corporate clients in domestic and international litigation and arbitration proceedings. Must be admitted to the California State Bar. Must also have experience with the following special skills: 3 years of professional experience advising on commercial and business litigation matters in both established and emerging markets including managing multiple litigation projects with overlapping deadlines and representing clients in commercial litigation before U.S. federal and state courts; 3 years of professional experience analyzing legal risks and compliance obligations in foreign jurisdictions, particularly in connection with new legislation and regulatory developments in Latam; 3 years of professional experience advising major social media and technology clients in international litigation matters including strategic coordination across jurisdictions; 3 years of professional experience advising clients on technology and intellectual property matters including litigation and regulatory compliance and advising on Internet Platform liability, Privacy, and Artificial Intelligence laws and regulations applicable in the United States and Latin America, particularly Brazil; and 3 years of professional experience independently managing client relationships including direct communication with clients to align legal strategies with business objectives and reporting to senior attorneys or partners on case progression and legal developments.
