I. JOB OVERVIEW






Job Description Summary:
The George Washington University offers a comprehensive, NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 400 student-athletes across 20 varsity sports. Reporting to the Deputy Athletics Director for External Operations & Chief Revenue Officer, the Multimedia Director supports all video operations for GW's Department of Athletics. The position is responsible for supporting all pre-and post-production work, as well as in-game and broadcast production of all volleyball, men's, and women's basketball games, gymnastic matches, and other events as assigned. The incumbent will also be responsible for the following:

General Duties:

  • In charge of planning, preparation, and production of routine multimedia or photography.
  • Coordinates the production of multimedia or photography in partnership with the Marketing and Fan Engagement team.
  • Photographs assigned projects, including scheduling and organizing video shoots as needed
  • Executes editing of the materials.
  • Manages hiring, training, and management of creative content interns in collaboration with Broadcast, Video and Production Director & Deputy Athletics Director,
  • Recruits, mentors, and supervises interns assisting with photography, videography, editing, and broadcasting.


Game & Event Coverage:

  • Sets up, operates, and manages video equipment for non-televised events and in-house productions as directed.
  • In charge of maintenance and organization of the Athletics video archive.
  • Serves as producer/assistant director for ESPN+ broadcasts of George Washington athletics home contests and ensure ESPN production standards.

Broadcast Services:

  • Manages regional and national streaming coverage on ESPN+ of George Washington athletics programs.
  • Serves as the producer/assistant director for ESPN+ broadcasts of George Washington men's and women's basketball games and Olympic sports and ensure ESPN production standards.
  • Collaborate with the crewing vendor on ESPN+ broadcasts regarding crewing, production meetings, production elements, and format.

Video Production:

  • Manages press events such as media days, recruiting visits, signing days, post-games, and NCAA selection shows.
  • Package video content to showcase sports programs, athletics facilities, support services, special team foreign trips, etc.
  • Creates content for athletics special events, such as the student-athlete awards banquet, Development events, basketball home games, and other events as needed.
  • Works with athletics communications staff to develop video content for social media distribution, live video streaming (ESPN+), and other projects as requested.
  • Responds to client inquiries.

The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC. May require domestic travel. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of video production and social media is highly desired.
  • Background in sports video is preferred.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro editing software and equipment, and experience in After Effects and Photoshop is desired.
  • Experience in shooting with DSLR and broadcast cameras is valued.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of audio techniques and lighting principles is desired.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly, and completely unsupervised, while under deadline.
  • Strong oral communication skills, highly organized and attentive to detail

  • Team player and collaborator

Hiring Range $52,741.91 - $72,476.48
