Lactalis USA, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring an Assistant Chemical & Sanitation Manager in Buffalo, New York.

Summary: This position manages, supervises and coordinates activities with food safety and sanitation programs in a food manufacturing environment. The position is responsible for management of plant cleaning, sanitation, and compliance with GMP's, USDA & safety practices, sanitation policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Supervises adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices in regard to sanitation procedures.

2. Monitors and audits, making adjustments as necessary to processing and packaging equipment cleaning systems/procedures to ensure optimal cleanliness.

3. Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory sanitation food quality and food safety standards as well as employee safety and environmental standards.

4. Works closely with management and production personnel on sanitation problems; recommending changes to improve sanitation policies, procedures, and cleaning effectiveness.

5. Performs comprehensive sanitation audits on each unique production process to determine sanitation effectiveness. Communicates reports/trends/issues regarding inspections, sanitation deviations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies via e-mail.

7. Conducts training programs for all sanitation procedures and is responsible for the development and training of sanitation personnel.

8. Understands chemical specifications and their effectiveness/proper application for different processing/packaging equipment SSOP's.

9. Conducts scheduled sanitation validation audits including dismantling and inspecting critical processing and packaging equipment to ensure proper clean ability/sanitization.

10. Ensure CIP validation for new equipment and process expansion.

11. Develops labor schedules to ensure appropriate coverage to meet labor efficiencies and production demands.

12. Maintains and revises departmental procedures including the master sanitation schedule and SSOP's reflecting process improvements that maintain or improve pre-operational and operational hygienic conditions.

13. Reviews and maintains sanitation documentation for Quality Assurance and regulatory review.

14. Develop cost savings for chemical usage and look at opportunities to improve cleaning time and efficiency.

16. Builds partnerships with production, quality and human resources to ensure production and people goals are met.

18. Promotes a positive work environment.

19. NYS Interaction acting as Processing Plant Superintendent.

20. Follow up: Waste Disposal Monitoring - Pest Control Program Monitoring - Plant Water Sampling - CIP Rinse water.

21. HTST Inspections Coordination and Performance. HTST Chart Review.

22. Maintaining and Reporting on the Master Sanitation Schedule.

Requirements

Qualifications:

3-4+ years of experience supervising sanitation crew in a food manufacturing environment.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree a plus in applicable discipline; High School diploma required.
