Controller | Horseshoe Bay Resort Position Summary The Controller is responsible for the overall management and oversight of accounting, payroll, and purchasing functions at Horseshoe Bay Resort. This role leads day-to-day financial operations, ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, and maintains compliance with GAAP and all applicable tax regulations. The Controller partners with executive leadership to support financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic planning. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting, payroll, and purchasing operations
- Manage daily accounting functions, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations; oversee tax filings and reporting
- Maintain and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance metrics
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost control and revenue improvement
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation
- Partner with senior leadership to support strategic initiatives and business decisions
- Oversee inventory controls and asset management processes
- Ensure accurate recording of profits and losses and overall financial integrity
- Lead, develop, and manage the Finance and Accounting team, including performance management and staffing
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment
- Participate in leadership meetings and represent the Finance function across the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/finance leadership experience, preferably within a full-service or luxury hospitality environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
- Experience managing audits, tax compliance, and multi-department financial operations
- Proficiency in accounting and property management systems (e.g., M3, Opera, or similar platforms)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors of Finance (preferred)
Bachelors of Accounting (preferred)
High School (required)
Experience
3 years: Proven experience overseeing accounting operations, payroll, and internal controls in a fast-paced environment (required)
Hospitality or multi-entity experience preferred, with direct responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination (required)
5 years: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a leadership or Controller-level role (required)
