Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Plant Operator at its production facility in Galt, CA.

The Plant Operations Technician is responsible for controlling and monitoring a number of processes in the production of liquid and gaseous nitrogen, oxygen and argon.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the site's basic safety processes, contributing to overall safety performance
  • Operate and maintain the plant; assist with mechanical repairs, instrument calibration, and electrical troubleshooting
  • Follow, update, and maintain operating procedures to support safe and efficient operations
  • Provide troubleshooting support for production units
  • Supervise trailer loading operations and train loading personnel
  • Support other facilities in the area as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two-year Associate degree in a technical field (preferred)
  • Plant process experience and/or Process Technology degree/certification (preferred)
  • Instrumentation and/or IT experience (preferred)
  • Strong mechanical skill and/or military experience
  • Strong dedication to safety
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently
  • This is a safety-sensitive position
  • Team-oriented with a flexible and positive demeanor

Shift:

  • 8-hour shift schedule
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to participate in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Will be exposed to high noise levels
  • Ability to meet call-in requirements as needed
  • Ability to work at elevated heights

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $45.61 to $57.67 per hour.
