Job Description
Responsible for the safe, sanitary, and compliant handling of regulated garbage (RG) in accordance with USDA APHIS, HACCP, GMP, and Company sanitation SOPs. Ensures the Sanipak Room, equipment, and carts are properly cleaned and disinfected; RG is processed, treated, and removed within required timeframes; and all required records are accurately maintained.

Essential Functions:
* Wear proper attire and personal protective equipment (PPE), maintain compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point ("HACCP") guidelines for personal hygiene.
* Comply with Company-implemented sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including the Company's HACCP Plan and Good Manufacturing Practices. Maintain the Company's compliance with United States Department of Agriculture ("USDA") Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service ("APHIS") requirements.
* Clean and sanitize the International Trash Room (Sanipak Room).
* Ensure that International regulated garbage ("RG") spills are promptly mopped up and floors are kept clean in accordance with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service ("APHIS") requirements.
* Fully understand and comply with the USDA APHIS requirements on handling Virkon S or Clorox Bleach 5.25%, and processing regulated garbage.
* Perform clerical duties such as recording sterilization cycles, as well as maintaining records of all RG waste received and RG spills cleaned and sanitized.
* Record keeping must be up-to-date, properly secure, and complete as per USDA APHIS requirements.
* Cleaning and disinfection of all carts used for Regulated Garbage before their next use.
* Perform duties related to processing Regulated Garbage and ensure that all Regulated Garbage is treated and removed from the Sanipak Room within 120 hours of receiving it from an inbound flight.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the unit supervisors pertaining to the Sanipak Processing Room.

Skills and Qualifications
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* High School Diploma or GED preferred.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
* Ability to communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
* Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language with proficiency.
* Prior experience in a commercial kitchen, dishroom, or food manufacturing facility is a plus.
* Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This position is in a food manufacturing facility and involves working in areas that may be cold, hot, humid, or noisy. The environment includes exposure to strong food odors, allergens, and potentially working with equipment. Employees may need to follow strict sanitation and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may take place on wet or slippery surfaces. Schedules may include overtime, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.

Physical Demands
* Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, often on concrete or other hard surfaces.
* Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 lbs. (occasionally more with assistance or equipment).
* Reaching/Bending: Frequent reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift.
* Manual Dexterity: Use of fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision and coordination, such as operating controls or using small tools.
* Visual Requirements: Ability to visually inspect products, labels, or equipment for quality and safety standards.
* Auditory Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal communication in a noisy environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard hours and days of work may vary based on production schedules and operational needs, including flight schedules. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required, as well as occasional overtime.

Travel
No travel is required.
