NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for a Licensed Mental Health Clinician to join our Jail Based Competency Treatment Program in San Diego, CA.

**This is not a remote position.

The Jail-Based Competency Treatment (JBCT) program, a California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) satellite program, operates as a 30-bed adult male unit at the San Diego Central Jail. Our patients receive psychiatric and mental health services aimed at restoring their competency to stand trial so that they may proceed with pending criminal charges in the court system and move forward in their lives in a healthier place.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for Mental Health Clinician:

  • Serve as a contributing member of the multidisciplinary treatment team for JBCT patients in roles as clinician, treatment plan coordinator, case manager, and discharge planner
    Perform and document treatment plans, treatment team review notes, discharge summaries, and progress notes
  • Provide individual and group therapeutic and psychoeducational services targeting competency restoration to JBCT patients
  • Coordinate with health and correctional staff regarding patients' mental health care
  • Participate in educational and training activities related to mental health care for patients, security personnel, and healthcare staff

Demonstrate knowledge of DSM-V-TR criteria and mental health practice standards



Qualifications

Qualifications for Mental Health Clinician:

:

  • Master's prepared candidate with active, unrestricted licensure as a mental health clinician in CA
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), psychologist (PsyD/ PhD)
  • Pre-licensed clinicians will be considered
  • 3 years of experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with the mentally ill highly preferred
  • Experience in a correctional or secure environment preferred, but not required
