Job Summary

This position will be responsible for the supervision of Client Services team members and manages various refresh programs, work streams, and tasks as assigned. The incumbent is a recognized project management expert and is responsible for all aspects of supporting enterprise-level projects for the Client Services unit within Information Technology.

This includes but is not limited to strategic planning, budgeting, level 3 technical escalations, project resource management, customer relationship, portfolio management, technical guidance, client systems planning and implementation, and other special projects as required.

This position also manages budget, cashflows, and procurement activities for Client Services. This position will exercise initiative, analytics, and sound judgment in applying established principles and practices to new and unusual problems. The incumbent must work with full independence and decision-making responsibility under limited direction and act as a lead to all IT Client Services team members as well as the project team members. Incumbent acts as the department's liaison with clinical departments, clinics, vendors, clinical engineering, research, education, and all other departments throughout UC Davis Health.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience
  • Five (5) years of program/project management experience managing implementations or programs of varying size and scope
  • Experience with Project Management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project) and other MS Office tools
  • Experience managing multiple technology or computer infrastructure related projects
  • Has solid interpersonal and management skills. Demonstrated skill in managing technical staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires solid ability to communicate highly technical information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently, set priorities, organize the work of others, and meet deadlines
  • Has working knowledge of hardware, software, and desktop applications as it relates to Desktops, Laptops, Mobile Devices, Printers, Multi-function Devices, Scanners, Carts, etc
  • Strong ability to think strategically and create long-term roadmaps and processes for project/service delivery improvements
  • Knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment to effectively provide technical support and consulting services to clients via telephone, email, and in-person

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing projects and staff within a university or health care industry
  • Experience supporting IT systems in an enterprise environment consisting of 15,000 or more customers
  • Ability to work effectively with clinical, administrative, and executive staff, displaying a courteous and professional attitude at all times
  • Ability to be creative and apply innovative concepts to problem resolution
  • Possess the ability to work effectively with other members of the management team to proactively triage and resolve customer issues

Department Overview

UC Davis Health (UCDH) Innovation Technology accomplishes planning and implementation activities to service the UC Davis Health environment needs for teaching, clinical high-quality patient care, and research. The Client Services team is responsible for the deployment, maintenance, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and support for client devices (Desktops, Laptops, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Mobile Devices, Printers, Multi-Function Devices, Scanners, Carts, etc.) and their connectivity to the network, the applications, and the databases as well as locally installed business productivity applications. The department provides technical leadership and support for the cost-effective use of computers, software, and networking including installation, training, and problem resolution.
