The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Washington College seeks candidates for an adjunct lecturer position for the fall of 2026 to teach two sections of Spanish language classes (with potential for renewal in spring 2027). The successful candidate will have a record of effectiveness in and commitment to undergraduate language teaching.

The Department offers majors in Spanish, French, and German, and minors in Spanish, French, German, and Chinese. The department's courses also support interdisciplinary programs across the college, including Latin American Studies, Gender Studies, and Black Studies. Essential Functions:



  • Teach two undergraduate language courses per semester (Fall 2026 semester - possible renewal for Spring 2027 semester).
  • Prepare course materials, syllabi, and lesson plans aligned with departmental guidelines
  • Deliver instruction using communicative and proficiency-oriented approaches.


Required Qualifications:



  • A Master's in Spanish or a related field is required.
  • Possess native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Introductory and Intermediate language courses.


Preferred Qualifications:




  • ABD or PhD in Spanish or a related field.
  • Experience teaching introductory/intermediate language courses using communicative-oriented approaches.

Salary: $3,000.00 per course + travel allowance
