Position OverviewThe Facility Manager will serve as the primary on-site leader responsible for the comprehensive management and operational excellence of designated General Motors facilities. This role requires a strategic facility professional who can deliver exceptional client service while managing all aspects of building operations, maintenance, vendor relationships, and compliance within the automotive manufacturing environment. Key ResponsibilitiesFacility Operations Management Oversee day-to-day operations of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and mechanical systems. Ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and minimal downtime to support GM's manufacturing and business operations. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs that maximize asset life and minimize operational disruptions. Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary JLL point of contact for General Motors facility stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with GM leadership, understanding their operational needs and business objectives. Conduct regular meetings to review performance metrics, address concerns, and identify opportunities for service improvements and cost savings. Budget and Financial Management Develop, manage, and monitor facility operating budgets, capital expenditure plans, and project costs. Identify cost reduction opportunities while maintaining service quality standards. Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for both JLL and GM leadership review. Vendor and Contractor Oversight Manage relationships with third-party service providers, contractors, and suppliers. Negotiate contracts, monitor service delivery, ensure quality standards, and verify compliance with all agreements. Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize impact on production schedules. Compliance and Safety Ensure all facility operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, EPA, and building codes. Maintain comprehensive understanding of automotive industry standards and GM-specific requirements. Lead safety initiatives, conduct regular inspections, and maintain accurate documentation for audits and regulatory reporting. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop on-site facility staff and contractors. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional service delivery. Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and ensure team members have necessary training and resources to succeed. Project Management Plan, coordinate, and oversee facility improvement projects, renovations, and capital initiatives. Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets. Collaborate with GM stakeholders, JLL project teams, architects, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget. Emergency Response and Business Continuity Develop and maintain emergency response plans and business continuity protocols. Serve as primary contact during facility emergencies, coordinating response efforts and communications. Ensure backup systems and contingency plans are tested and operational. Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of progressive facility management experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or automotive environments. Experience managing large-scale facilities (500,000+ square feet) strongly preferred. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building systems, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and facility automation technologies. Knowledge of manufacturing facility requirements and automotive industry standards highly desirable. Skills: Proven leadership and team management capabilities. Excellent client relationship and communication skills. Strong financial acumen with budget management experience. Proficiency in CMMS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and facility management software. Project management experience with ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Estimated compensation for this position: 85,000.00 - 95,000.00 USD per yearThis range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
