Astrion's National Security Space (NSS) Division is recruiting highly talented candidates to support a contract that provides full life-cycle support to the United States Space Force Space Systems Command - National Security Space Launch (NSSL). We assist the Space Force by supporting a multitude of areas, including Systems Engineering & Integration, Acquisition & Program Management Support, Mission Integration Management, System Safety & Environmental Engineering, Systems Security & Information Assurance, Launch Schedule and Risk Management, Certification of New Entrant Launch Vehicles. This position supports the USSF customer under the SSC NEC SE&I contract.

Astrion is actively seeking a motivated, customer-oriented NSSL Manufacturing Engineer to join our team as a Resident Manufacturing Engineer reporting to the Launch Vehicle Contractor's (LVC) facility in Merritt Island, FL with a local supporting Astrion office in Melbourne, FL.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience with aerospace configuration management and evaluation of design effectivity within the manufacturing build
  • Experience reviewing non-conformances, corrective actions, material review boards, and quality assurance processes
  • Ability to support engineering reviews, hardware acceptance, anomaly resolution, and technical reporting for government or contractor programs

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide Launch Vehicle Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering expertise at the USSF customer's LVC's facility in Merrit Island, FL
  • Apply expertise in manufacturing processes, industrial engineering, structures, materials, logistics, destructive and non-destructive testing/evaluation, operations, processes, personnel, and organizations
  • Prepare assessments of Engineering Review Boards including risk recommendations
  • Support Customer functions such as requirements development, and technical/schedule reports
  • Perform and support systems engineering functions such as requirements definition, design review, test review, risk management, pedigree review, hardware acceptance, verification, operations, anomaly resolution, and post-flight analyses
  • Perform manufacturing/industrial engineering functions such as assessment of launch vehicle (LV) design, manufacturing processes and methods, work instructions and procedures, tooling, facilities, infrastructure, personnel qualifications, non-conformance assessment, material review boards, corrective action reports, calibration, environmental controls, quality assurance, non-destructive examinations, safety methods, regulations, supplier management, and transportation
  • Prepare the USSF Customer team and provide support for manufacturing operations and anomaly resolution
  • Plan, coordinate, brief, support Chief Engineer Review Boards, USSF program reviews, and other meetings
  • Perform technical and engineering data management, such as data mining and reporting
  • Perform annual and quarterly Training and Certification including course development, peer review, training, and mentoring as needed
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead with weekly activity reports as needed/required by contract
  • Submit and renew Security Clearance application and renewal of CAC card access as needed in addition to all Launch Vehicle Contractor (LVC) access requirements.
  • Collaborate with USSF System Program Offices, Aerospace Corporation, LVCs, Subcontractors, USSF Launch Sites, and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and other written evaluations and reports of a technical nature using Confluence and Jira reporting tools
