Your Job

Molex's Optical Connectivity team is looking for a Quality Metrology Engineer. As a Metrology Quality Engineer, you will provide measurement, inspection, and quality expertise that enables reliable product launches and sustained manufacturing performance. You will partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to ensure products meet design intent, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

Location: This is an onsite role based at our facility in Naperville, IL.

To comply with U.S. export control laws and regulations, this position requires applicants to either provide proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status or be eligible to receive an export authorization (a license) under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and partner with design engineers to resolve findings efficiently using GD&T principles and supporting evidence
  • Develop and execute incoming and final inspection plans, including documentation and record retention within SAP
  • Lead metrology planning, including selection, ownership, and qualification of gauges, fixtures, and measurement methods
  • Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA), capability studies, and statistical analysis to support tool and process qualification
  • Conduct mechanical, material, and compliance testing (including XRF) to verify conformance to specifications
  • Apply sound quality judgment to identify, contain, and disposition nonconforming product, ensuring timely resolution
  • Support calibration activities for measurement equipment and gauges
  • Participate in problem-solving efforts (e.g., 8D) related to new product introductions, customer complaints, and internal quality issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, throughput improvement, and defect prevention
  • Follow and support PBM principles, ISO 9001/14001 requirements, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in metrology and GD&T within a manufacturing or product development environment
  • Working knowledge of inspection methods, gauges, and measurement equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 5% (domestic and international)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or advanced quality planning activities
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental management systems
  • Experience with inspection and sampling plans, DFMEA, control plans, capability studies, and reliability testing
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Experience with supplier quality activities, audits, or gauge and fixture design

For this role, we anticipate paying $85,000 - $110,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
