Position Summary

The Production Manager will direct overall operations, ensuring the achievement of production objectives. Additionally, they will ensure compliance with safety, quality, delivery, cost, and other daily plant standards. This role will oversee leaders from each department, and report to the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and owns production floor standards and adherence to these standards.
  • Owns and actively participates in daily Tier 3 meetings, driving countermeasures to ensure daily goals.
  • Updates daily reports (past-due, production reports, daily sales) and daily KPIs (output, absorption, standard hours, actual hours).
  • Build a labor plan and continuously re-evaluate needs based on orders, production plans, demand for overtime, etc.
  • Partners with Finance and plant leadership to develop monthly forecasts.
  • Prepares and presents at monthly communication meetings to the New Berlin team.
  • Works closely with other plant leadership functions to develop and execute monthly countermeasures to plant metrics.
  • Partners with RBS and other functions to drive continuous improvement initiatives at the facility.
  • Works collaboratively with all departments to assure that daily SQDC (safety, quality, delivery and cost) metrics are met.
  • Drives, and is accountable for daily production metrics of the plant.
  • Creates and sustains a safe work environment. Ensures all safety rules are followed. Maintains a safe and clean working environment for all plant employees and visitors.
  • Use root cause analysis, 5 why process, and standard work to eliminate waste. Champion use of lean tools through involvement in kaizens and other process improvement activities.
  • Leads/facilitates kaizen events and other continuous improvement projects as needed.
  • Acts as a backup for supervisors, including managing direct reports, production and overtime schedules, attendance and payroll, etc.
  • Provides timely and constructive feedback to associates. Evaluates employee performance, recommends areas for improvement, and makes decisions involving employment, wages, and discipline.
  • Oversees production, shipping and receiving, maintenance, and quality functions.
  • Coordinates and manages projects and budgets as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skill Required

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent level of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including proven experience managing teams. Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Thorough understanding of production operations and machinery.
  • Excellent leadership skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proven time management skills with ability to meet deadlines, including the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, computers and related softwareto complete reports and logs.
  • Proficiency with SAP, and lean experience and/or certification strongly preferred.
