Overview

BrightSpring Health Services is seeking a Finance & Accounting Intern to join our team for a year-round, part-time opportunity. This internship is ideal for a highly motivated and detail-oriented student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. You will gain hands-on experience in both corporate accounting and finance functions, supporting day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives, and month-end close activities.

The intern will work across departments to assist with journal entries, account reconciliations, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation. You'll also gain exposure to ERP systems like Oracle Fusion, help manage capital expenditures and support internal financial reporting and compliance processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to rotate between accounting and finance functions, providing a well-rounded foundation in corporate financial operations.



Responsibilities

Accounting Responsibilities:

    Prepare and post journal entries to support monthly close activities
  • Perform daily and monthly accounting functions, including reconciliations and fixed asset subledger transactions in Oracle Fusion
  • Assist with corporate balance sheet accounts and conduct analytical reviews
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits
  • Help monitor compliance with GAAP and internal controls
  • Manage invoicing and payments related to capital expenditures
  • Review and process Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) for policy compliance
  • Reconcile discrepancies with vendors and accounts payable
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records (digital and physical)

Finance Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and dashboards for internal stakeholders
  • Support budgeting and financial planning processes across departments
  • Conduct variance analysis and performance metrics reporting
  • Create presentations for financial reviews and leadership updates
  • Maintain and analyze KPIs and financial databases
  • Participate in audit walkthroughs and control testing
  • Develop and manage tax and compliance schedules
  • Collaborate with operations and cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy

General & Special Projects:

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • Perform financial and operational research and analysis
  • Take part in ad hoc projects and administrative tasks as needed
  • Rotate through finance and accounting functions over the course of the program


Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (minimum 9 credit hours/semester) or graduate program (minimum 6 credit hours/semester)
  • Majoring in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business field
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (Finance/Accounting GPA must also be 3.0+)
  • Expected graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Completion of intermediate-level Accounting or Finance courses required
  • Previous internship or relevant work experience is a plus
  • Must reside within daily commuting distance to Louisville, KY for the duration of the internship
  • Available to work 20-25 hours per week year-round

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with financial software/ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Workday, etc.) is preferred
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ability to handle confidential information
  • Self-starter with strong time-management skills
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and in teams
