We are seeking a Billing Specialist to support the Premium Billing team. This role is phoneheavy and customerfacing, focused on assisting members with billing questions, payments, account research, and resolution of routine inquiries. The ideal candidate brings strong customer service skills, comfort navigating multiple systems, and a desire to grow within the organization.
This role requires being available on the phones most of the day and delivering consistent, highquality service while handling a high volume of inbound calls - especially during Open Enrollment. Key Responsibilities * Provide superior customer service while independently completing premium billing functions, including research and problem-solving * Receive and manage inbound calls from internal and external customers regarding billing and payment inquiries * Resolve customer concerns during the initial call whenever possible or provide timely follow-up when additional research is required * Complete assigned outbound calls related to delinquent accounts and billing follow-up * Answer billing questions, process payments, and educate members and groups on billing and payment processes * Assist members with enrolling in online billing and payment systems * Verify eligibility for reinstatement reviews and complete required documentation when applicable * Maintain confidentiality of member information and comply with company policies * Navigate multiple, complex systems with minimal supervision * Meet established performance standards for response time, call handling time, audits, and availability * Collaborate with other departments to correct or update member accounts Day in the Life * On the phones for the majority of the workday assisting members with billing inquiries and payments * Scheduled breaks include two 15minute breaks and one 30minute lunch * After training, employees spend about 7.5 hours of an 8hour day on inbound calls * Dedicated followup time is provided (approximately 30 minutes every other day) * Call volume averages: * 50-60 calls per day during Open Enrollment (December-March) * 25-30 calls per day outside of Open Enrollment * Candidates should be motivated to grow, take on escalated calls, and expand responsibilities over time Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED * At least 1 year of customer service experience (healthcare experience not required) * Strong verbal communication skills and professional phone presence * Intermediate computer skills * Basic math skills * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Ability to work under pressure and resolve customer issues effectively * Selfmotivated with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Training & Schedule * *Week 1:* Classroom-style training and modules * Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM MST * *Week 2:* Mentoring, shadowing, and supervised calls * Schedule varies based on mentor's shift * *PostTraining Shifts:* * 8:00 AM-4:30 PM * 8:30 AM-5:00 PM * 9:00 AM-5:30 PM Growth & Advancement The organization strongly promotes from within.
