Reporting interns join one of AJC's newsroom teams, including business, politics, opinion, metro/state, investigative, lifestyle, Black culture, or sports. Interns work as contributing reporters. You'll pitch ideas, report independently, write on deadline, and collaborate with editors, visuals, and audience teams. This role is ideal for students who want real newsroom experience and are excited to grow as digital-first journalists. What You'll Do Report and write stories on deadline Conduct interviews and interact with the public Pitch story ideas and contribute to daily coverage Collaborate with editors, photographers, and digital teams Learn newsroom workflows and digital publishing practices Qualifications Prior experience with campus media and/or professional news internships strongly preferred Experience with daily deadline reporting and writing required Comfort working in a fast-paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent time management Knowledge of AP style Eagerness to learn and grow as a journalist Awareness of video, photography, or other digital skills is a plus USD 22.02 - 33.08 per hour Compensation: Hourly pay rate is in the range of $22.02 - $33.08/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program. Benefits: Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
