Expert Trainer (IT)

General Purpose of the Job

The Expert Trainer is responsible for supporting the design. Delivery and continuous improvement of training drives team performance and supports organizational training to enhance teammate performance, ensure operational consistency, and support organizational objectives. This role serves as a subject-matter expert, providing advanced instruction, coaching, and mentorship to teammates, evaluating training effectiveness, and driving ongoing development initiatives. The Expert Trainer plays a key role in maintaining high standards of knowledge, skills, and performance across the team and the enterprise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Training Delivery and Facilitation

  • Deliver high-impact, complex, and high-visibility training programs to diverse audiences

  • Facilitate both in-person and virtual training sessions using effective adult learning methodologies

  • Adapt facilitation techniques in real time to address learner needs, engagement levels, and performance challenges

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality learner experiences across all training sessions

  • Model best practices in instructional delivery and learner engagement

Curriculum Design and Content Development

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to design, develop, and refine training materials

  • Lead the development and implementation of new training initiatives, including onboarding, upskilling, and continuous learning programs for trainers

  • Support the organization and standardization of training documentation and resources

Training Analysis and Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct needs assessment based on special request for training

  • Partner with stakeholders and leadership to gather input and validate training needs and priorities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives that enhance training effectiveness and learner outcomes

  • Assist in evaluating training programs and recommending enhancements based on data, feedback, and observed performance gaps

  • Support the alignment of training solutions with business objectives, operational processes, and performance goals

Coaching and Trainer Development

  • Support development planning for trainers by providing ongoing feedback and performance guidance

  • Support the trainer evaluation program by collaborating with the manager, leveraging the tools and process provided to ensure timely and consistent feedback to trainers

  • Collaborate with the manager in coaching and mentoring technical and senior technical trainers to enhance instructional skills, content delivery, and professional development

  • Lead or support train-the-trainer programs and coaching frameworks

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and capability building within the training team

Quality Assurance

  • Monitor and ensure the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of training delivery and materials.

  • Support and oversee training logistics, including environment setup and resource readiness, as needed.

  • Evaluate adherence to training standards and identify areas for improvement.

  • Implement quality assurance processes to maintain high training standards.

Specialized Experience, Education, Training, or Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or a combination of 5+ years of experience in training delivery, learning and development, or a related field. Relevant education and/or progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training in both virtual and in-person environments

  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or developing other trainers

  • Proven ability to analyze performance data and translate insights into training solutions

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address learner and performance challenges in real time

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills

  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and leadership

  • Experience facilitating discussions with SMEs, partners and leadership to drive learning solutions

  • Professional certification in learning and development (e.g., ATD CPTD, APTD, or equivalent)

  • Experience leading training initiatives, programs, or projects

  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training analytics tools

  • Strong stakeholder consulting and influence skills

Travel expected - 10%
