Creighton University seeks an experienced Executive Operations and Government Relations Manager to support the Office of the President. Reporting to the University President, the Manager supports the President's executive, administrative, and strategic responsibilities and helps ensure the effective operation of the Office of the President, with a key role in coordinating executive operations, supporting Presidential committees, serving as a liaison for presidential event planning, and participating in special projects that advance institutional priorities.

This position requires frequent engagement with trustees, senior leaders, elected officials, and external partners, demanding a consistently high level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment. The Manager must be a proactive and adaptable professional who can be trusted to represent the President with poise in both internal and external settings.

The Executive Operations and Government Relations Manager serves as a vital resource for the Office of the President, ensuring that Presidential and institutional priorities are executed efficiently and effectively.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide executive, administrative, and strategic support to the University President, including coordination of executive operations, priorities, projects, and Presidential and University committees to support institutional goals and timelines.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Trustees, coordinating meetings, preparing materials, facilitating communications, and tracking follow-up actions in collaboration with Board leadership and senior administration.
  • Support government relations activities by serving as the liaison with external government relations partners, monitoring federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory developments, preparing analyses and briefing materials, and assisting with executive-level interactions with government officials.
  • Serve as a liaison for presidential event planning, ensuring alignment with Presidential priorities and a high standard of execution.
  • Serve as a liaison among the President, senior administrators, trustees, and internal and external stakeholders, including representing the President at meetings as appropriate, documenting key discussions, and ensuring timely follow-up on assigned action items.
  • Prepare executive-level materials, including briefing documents, reports, correspondence, presentations, and talking points for governance, internal, and external audiences.
  • Assist with internal and external communications related to Presidential initiatives, governance activities, and University priorities, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information and time-sensitive matters in support of the President and the University's mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field required; advanced degree in business administration, higher education, public administration, law, or a related field preferred
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible professional experience, including at least two (2) years in an executive or senior leadership office
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior executives and governing boards, preferably in higher education, government, or a complex organizational environment
  • Experience managing office operations at an enterprise or institution-wide level, including strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands in a fastpaced executive environment.
  • Government relations experience preferred, including familiarity with legislative processes at the federal or state level and knowledge of public policy issues affecting higher education or complex organizations
  • Skill in building and maintaining professional relationships with government and institutional stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and criticalthinking skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information and monitor legislative or regulatory issues impacting the institution.
  • Knowledge of executive administration and higher education governance, including Board and committee processes, protocols, and best practices
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare executive-level briefing materials, correspondence, reports, and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality, with a high level of discretion and sound judgment required
