PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As an Engineer in Training at CPKC, you will help manage both internally and externally funded railway projects, including tracks, bridges, and related facilities, ensuring effective project and construction oversight. Your responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, site reconnaissance and surveying, as well as project development and engineering design-from conceptual through detailed stages. You will direct and coordinate site work activities, making sure projects are completed within budget and on schedule, while maintaining accountability for safety, service, productivity, and financial performance. Additionally, you will provide technical analysis and support related to budget compliance, execute assignments from the Chief Engineer, and prepare project submissions as required. This is a developmental position offering opportunities for advancement in the near term. PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Medical and Drug Testing This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Management Conductor Program Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
