Qualifications Active Journeyman Electrician License in the state of Virginia (required). Minimum of 4+ years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, preferably in critical environments (medical, hospital, lab, or data center). Strong knowledge of NEC, Virginia electrical codes, and safety regulations. Proven ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications. Experience running conduit, pulling wire, terminating panels, and installing distribution equipment. Familiarity with emergency power systems, UPS, and generator-backed facilities (preferred). Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced, mission-critical environment. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to urgent facility needs. Required: High School Diploma or GED - minimum requirement. Completion of a State-Approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program (usually 4-5 years, ~8,000 hours of on-the-job training plus classroom instruction). Journeyman Electrician License issued by the state (requires passing the licensing exam). Continuing Education - most states require ongoing courses to maintain licensure, especially on electrical code updates (e.g., NEC revisions). Active Journeyman Electrician License in the state of Virginia (required). Preferred: Minimum of 4+ years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, preferably in critical environments (medical, hospital, lab, or data center) Associate degree or vocational/technical school certificate in electrical technology, construction, or related field. Specialized training in life science or commercial facilities (since your role is in that environment). Safety training certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E for electrical safety). | |
