As a Logistics Supervisor you will contribute to Wenger Corporation's strategy to provide an exceptional customer experience by coordinating and executing day-to-day inbound and outbound logistics activities at our Syracuse, NY facility. This is a hands-on, working supervisor role that spends the majority of time performing shipping and receiving tasks while providing day-to-day direction to a small team. The role ensures accurate material movement and ERP transactions, on-time shipments, compliant receiving, and safe operations, while supporting quality objectives and continuous improvement. At a minimum, you will need:
High School Diploma or GED required
5+ years of experience in shipping/receiving, logistics, or warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred), including accurate shipping and receiving transactions
Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, and logistics coordination practices
Knowledge of material handling equipment and safe load securement practices
Comfort with data, systems, and openness to new technologies or process improvements
It would be great if you also have:
Associate degree or equivalent experience
Prior experience leading, coordinating, or training others (formal or informal leadership)
Familiarity with industrial painting processes as it relates to production flow and scheduling
Forklift operation (or ability to obtain)
Hoist and crane operation (or ability to obtain)
A typical day may include:
Hands-On Operations
Perform daily shipping and receiving activities, including picking, packing, unloading, labeling, and system transactions
Coordinate and execute shipments to dealers and contract job sites, ensuring accurate documentation, packaging, and on-time delivery
Process and verify shipping and receiving transactions in Epicor (e.g., shipments, receipts, transfers)
Troubleshoot and resolve routine issues related to shipments, materials, and documentation
Planning, Coordination & Logistics
Plan, schedule, and prioritize daily shipping and receiving activities to meet production and customer requirements
Arrange, coordinate, and support transportation services and freight activity to balance cost and service performance
Partner with Production, Sales, Purchasing, and Project Management to align on schedules, staging needs, and delivery requirements
Communicate with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve delays or service issues
Receiving & Material Flow
Oversee receiving operations, including verification of material counts, inspection for damage or quality concerns, and proper identification and staging
Ensure timely and accurate movement of materials to appropriate locations to support production and outbound flow
Maintain organized staging areas to support efficient material handling and shipment readiness
Team Leadership & Support
Provide day-to-day direction, work assignment, and hands-on support to Shipping, Receiving, and Painting team members
Lead by example in productivity, quality, and safe work practices
Support onboarding, training, and skill development of team members
Provide coaching and performance feedback; support time/attendance and participate in progressive discipline in partnership with HR and in alignment with company policy
Maintain appropriate documentation related to training, performance, and attendance
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Promote and reinforce safe work practices; participate in safety tours, committee activities, and required training
Ensure housekeeping and safe material handling standards are maintained
Support adherence to QMS procedures and work instructions; identify nonconformities and initiate corrective actions (CARs/SCARs) as needed
Ensure shipping and receiving processes meet quality and compliance standards
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and streamline shipping and receiving processes
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as process mapping, standard work, and workflow optimization
Provide input on tools, systems (ERP/WMS), and process improvements to enhance team effectiveness
