Job Summary B&A is seeking a SAP Interfacing Consultant - Technical Senior Consultant to support a federal government client operating within a classified environment. This role is responsible for the design, development, and sustainment of SAP interface solutions that enable secure and reliable data exchange between SAP ERP/S4HANA and external federal agency systems, third-party platforms, and legacy applications. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in SAP integration technologies - including IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, SAP PI/PO, and SAP Integration Suite - combined with strong ABAP development skills and a demonstrated ability to deliver and operate interface solutions within the strict cybersecurity and data classification requirements of a federal classified environment. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain SAP interface solutions across inbound and outbound data flows connecting SAP ERP/S4HANA with external federal agency systems, third-party platforms, and legacy applications
- Lead the technical design and build of SAP interfaces using core integration technologies including IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, ALE/EDI, web services (SOAP/REST), and SAP PI/PO or SAP Integration Suite (BTP)
- Develop technical interface specifications, mapping documents, and architecture designs in close collaboration with functional consultants and enterprise architects
- Configure and maintain SAP middleware components including SAP Process Integration (PI), Process Orchestration (PO), or SAP Integration Suite channels, adapters, and message mappings
- Perform end-to-end interface testing including unit testing, integration testing, and error handling validation across all SAP - external system boundaries
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve interface errors, failed message transmissions, and data exchange anomalies in production and non-production environments
- Collaborate with federal agency IT teams, third-party system administrators, and SAP functional consultants to define interface requirements, data formats, and transmission protocols
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including interface catalogs, mapping specifications, transport logs, and operations runbooks
- Support cutover activities including interface smoke testing, parallel run validation, and hypercare stabilization during system go-live events
- Ensure all interface solutions adhere to federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST SP 800-53, FISMA), data classification requirements, and security protocols applicable to the classified operating environment
Education and Experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in SAP technical development with a focus on interface design and implementation using SAP PI/PO, SAP Integration Suite (BTP), IDocs, BAPIs, and web service-based integration technologies
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting federal government clients or operating within regulated, defense, or classified IT environments
- Demonstrated proficiency in ABAP development as it applies to interface and integration scenarios including function modules, user exits, BAdIs, proxy objects, and enhancement framework components
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
Required Skills
- Deep technical expertise in SAP interface development using IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, ALE/EDI, Function Modules, and ABAP proxy objects
- Hands-on experience designing and building integrations using SAP Process Integration (PI), Process Orchestration (PO), or SAP Integration Suite (BTP) including channel configuration, adapter setup, and message mapping
- Proficiency in ABAP programming as it applies to interface development including user exits, BAdIs, enhancement spots, and custom function module development
- Experience with web service-based integration patterns including SOAP, REST, XML, and JSON data exchange between SAP and external systems
- Strong understanding of SAP data models and business object structures across multiple functional modules (FI, MM, PP, SD, HCM) as they relate to interface design
- Experience performing end-to-end interface testing, error analysis, and production monitoring across complex multi-system integration landscapes
- Familiarity with federal cybersecurity and data protection requirements including NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and FedRAMP as they apply to system-to-system data exchange
- Ability to produce clear and precise technical documentation including interface specifications, mapping documents, and operations runbooks
- Experience working within federal or classified IT environments with adherence to strict network security, data classification, and change management protocols
Desired Skills
- SAP Certified Development Associate - ABAP with SAP NetWeaver or SAP Integration Suite certification
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA integration scenarios including OData services, SAP BTP API Management, and event-driven integration using SAP Event Mesh
- Familiarity with MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or comparable enterprise integration platforms used in federal hybrid integration architectures
- Experience designing and operating interfaces within air-gapped or classified network environments, including handling of cross-domain data transfer requirements
- Knowledge of federal data standards and exchange frameworks including NIEM (National Information Exchange Model) or agency-specific data dictionaries
- Prior experience on DOE, DOD, or other federal agency SAP integration programs operating within classified or sensitive compartmented environments
Security Clearance
- Active Top Secret (TS) or DOE Q clearance is required; eligibility for SCI access may be required depending on program assignment
