The Clinical Skills and Simulation Coordinator supports the educational operations of the Clinical Skills Center (CSC) and Simulation Center at Saint Louis University School of Medicine (SLU SOM). This position reports to the CSC Program Director and the Director of the Simulation and Clinical Skills Center.

Primary responsibilities include coordinating student activities and assessments within the CSC and Simulation Center; providing on-site operational support for educational sessions; supporting the standardized patient (SP) program; and managing enrollment in ACLS, BLS, and PALS certification courses.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and effective in a student-facing academic environment. Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills are required to ensure consistent and high-quality education for students.

Student Coordination

  • Coordinate standardized patients (SPs), space, equipment, and related resources to support educational sessions in alignment with curricular requirements.
  • Coordinate student assignments and rotations to support instructional delivery.
  • Collaborate with faculty and program staff to maintain accurate records of student attendance and assessment data.
  • Schedule make-up sessions and remediation activities for students who miss required activities.
  • Maintain a professional, supportive, and confidential environment for students.

Educational Program Support

  • Support delivery of educational sessions, including preparation and reset of instructional spaces.
  • Operate the CSC learning management system for scheduling, video capture, live observation, and student assessment.
  • Monitor educational sessions and address logistical issues in real time.
  • Assist in inventory control and equipment management.

Standardized Patient (SP) Program Support

  • Schedule SPs for educational activities and communicate session details, expectations, and reminders.
  • Process time records, payments, and invoices related to SP-based education.
  • Coordinate meals for SPs and other participants as needed.
  • Provide operational support to SPs during educational sessions in collaboration with CSC staff.

ACLS/BLS/PALS Certification Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ACLS/BLS/PALS course enrollment.
  • Respond to logistical questions from coordinators and learners.
  • Collaborate with Simulation Center staff and relevant stakeholders to maintain accurate learner records for billing and reporting.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Perform other duties, projects, and program support activities as assigned.

    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with computers and database management.
    • Ability to learn and use multiple media and software platforms.
    • Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate degree
    • Familiarity with standardized patient programs
    • Prior administrative, program coordination, or operations experience in an educational or healthcare setting
    • Prior experience in higher education, standardized patient-based education, or simulation-based education

    Scheduled Weekly Hours

    40 per week, typical start time 8 am, occasional evening education.
