Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:



  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must have a verifiable High School diploma/G.E.D
  • Must have 1-3 years' experience working with individuals with IDD

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with the support of another team member when needed

We are seeking a Motor Development Specialist to join our team!



Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm



Earn: $18.00/Hour + Benefits!



The Motor Development Specialist will implement programs recommended by the Occupational Therapist (OT) and/or Physical Therapist (PT) to assist individuals develop basic functional skills.



This position is responsible to maintain communications among an interdisciplinary team. Training and consultation will be provided by the Occupational and Physical Therapists and work performance will be directed by the Program Manager.



Required Knowledge & Skills:



  • Ability to understand OT/PT orders.
  • Ability to implement OT/PT orders.
  • Knowledge & understanding of normal development, mental retardation & physical handicaps.
  • Ability to carry out programs with creativity and intiative.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with individuals and staff.
  • Basic knowledge of activities of daily living.
  • Ability to organize individual and group programming.
  • Ability to carry out direct care techniques.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with staff of this agency and others concerned with the individuals.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the department and the facility.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy and understanding of body mechanics and pathologies.
  • Knowledge of precautions to be observed in lifting and transferring individuals.
  • Ability to maintain all records with accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to maintain a strong relationship with the Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, individuals and all staff and parents.
