Department:Emergency Management Office Organizational Unit:Emergency Management Operations Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time CLOSE DATE: 05/08/2026 $2,215.68 to $2,437.25 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Rockledge/Emergency Operations Center. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled professional work assisting in the coordination and administration of emergency management plans and programs, serving in a coordination role supporting either Recovery and Mitigation or Planning functions; including Brevard County Hazard Mitigation Plan, Disaster Recovery Annex of the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP), Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP), Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), Continuity of Government (COG) Plan, and associated standard operating guidelines, policies, procedures, and Emergency Operations Center information-sharing products. Work involves coordinating activities and serving as a liaison with the Florida Division of Emergency Management and other counties, state, federal, and community agencies for the various programs within Emergency Management, including Mass Care, Mass Notification, Radiological, Logistics, Recovery, Brevard County Local Mitigation Strategy, Post-Disaster Damage Assessment Program, Planning, Healthcare, Training & Exercise, and Information Sharing & Resource Coordination Systems such as the AlertBrevard Alert and Notification Program. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, Social Science, English, or a closely related field PLUS three (3) years of progressively responsible direct experience in emergency management in a staff or administrative capacity;ORa Master's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, Social Science, English, or a closely related field PLUS one (1) year of progressively responsible direct experience in emergency management in a staff or administrative capacity. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Florida Professional Emergency Manager (FPEM) designation from the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FEPA) OR the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) designation from the International Association of Emergency Management (IAEM) is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must have successfully completed, prior to employment, the most current Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and 2200 courses PLUS G300 and G400 OR G191 and G2300 courses. Must have successfully completed, prior to employment, all of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Professional Development Series (PDS) independent study courses. Must successfully complete, within twelve (12) months of employment, all of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Advanced Professional Series (APS) courses. Must successfully complete, within twelve (12) months of employment, any one (1) of the following: the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FEPA) Intermediate Academy; the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Emergency Management Basic Academy; the FEMA National Emergency Management Advanced Academy, OR the FEMA National Emergency Management Executive Academy. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes long hours, including early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
