THE POSITION

The Information Technology Generalist 1 role with the Department of Corrections at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Huntingdon offers a chance to directly support essential operations that keep the institution running smoothly. You will help staff work efficiently by ensuring technology is dependable and well managed. This role will keep you engaged as you solve problems and support many different areas of the facility. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position manages the institution's computer systems and supports technology needs across all departments. The work supports critical operations, staff efficiency, and institutional security. As a Information Technology Generalist 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • System Oversight: Monitor and support computer systems used throughout the institution to ensure they remain reliable and effective
  • Technical Support: Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and guide staff in the proper use of equipment and applications
  • Equipment Management: Coordinate purchases, maintenance, and inventory of computers, peripherals, and specialized security technology
  • Application Development: Create and maintain in-house tracking programs that help staff complete tasks efficiently and meet operational needs
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with outside vendors on equipment repairs, installations, and system updates across secure and non-secure areas
  • Network Assistance: Support network connections, user access, security features, and data transfers for institutional and satellite locations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or
  • One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
