Job Title: Senior Payroll Accounting Professional Location(s): Malvern, PA (Hybrid: Onsite as needed, increased during audits/year-end) Role Overview Seeking a Senior Payroll Accounting Professional to provide temporary support during a high-volume period following a payroll system migration. This role will focus on payroll-to-GL reconciliation, ensuring accurate financial postings, and strengthening process documentation across payroll accounting workflows. Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthly payroll GL interface activities (~40 hours/month).
- Perform reconciliations and conduct issue research (~80 hours/month).
- Maintain documentation, track issues, and participate in cross-functional meetings (~40 hours/month).
- Review payroll general ledger interfaces across multiple entities (US & Canada).
- Ensure payroll files are accurately posted; resolve discrepancies with Payroll team.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances.
- Post monthly and quarterly journal entries (accruals, PTO, bonuses, deferred compensation, relocation, etc.).
- Support accounting for 401(k), benefits, taxes, pension, and compensation programs.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Analyze differences between bank activity and GL; ensure timely resolution.
- Prepare P&L and Balance Sheet analytics for month-end close.
- Perform complex financial process analysis to validate controls and improve efficiency
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant experience in payroll accounting and general accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA preferred but not required).
- Strong expertise in:
- Payroll accounting (earnings, deductions, taxability).
- Core accounting principles (GL, debits/credits, financial impact).
- Deep understanding of end-to-end payroll flow: payroll cash GL financial reporting.
Systems & Tools
- SAP (required).
- Workday (reporting exposure).
- Advanced Excel / Microsoft Office.
- Nice to have: KNIME, MS Access, or other data-processing tools.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent follow-up and research skills.
- Flexibility with hybrid work, especially during audit cycles.
Additional Information
- Interview Process: Panel interview (Hiring Manager + team member).
- Interview Window: Starting around March 30.
- Upcoming ERP cutover (Oct 1) may increase workload.
- No interaction with external payroll vendors.
