Position Title: Medical Director of Executive Health

Location: University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)

Reports to: Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine

Position Summary

The UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as Medical Director of the Executive Health practice. This role leads a well-established ambulatory program focused on comprehensive, personalized adult primary care, with an emphasis on prevention, early detection, and health optimization.

The Medical Director will oversee clinical operations and provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team of physicians and advanced practice providers. The role includes delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a high-touch model, including in-depth executive health evaluations and longitudinal care for a defined patient panel.

The position also involves participation in shared on-call coverage and collaboration with International and Concierge Services to support coordinated care for executive and international patients. The Medical Director will serve as a liaison across programs to ensure a seamless care experience.

This position is based within DGIM and may include opportunities for teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice improvement within the Clinician Teacher or Clinician Educator track. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

* Clinical Care: Provide high-quality, evidence-based primary care within the Executive Health program, including preventive care, chronic disease management, and comprehensive annual health evaluations

* Leadership and Administration: Serve as Medical Director for the Executive Health practice, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of physicians and advanced practice providers; lead clinical operations, support provider development, and guide program growth and strategy

* Care Coordination: Collaborate with International and Concierge Services and serve as a liaison to ensure seamless, high-touch care for executive and international patients

* Medical Education (as applicable): Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows; participate in precepting and educational activities as appropriate

* Quality Improvement: Lead or participate in initiatives to enhance patient experience, care delivery, and clinical outcomes

* Program Coverage: Participate in shared on-call coverage for the Executive Health program

Qualifications

* MD or DO degree from an accredited institution

* Board Certification/Eligibility in Internal Medicine

* Valid California medical license and DEA registration by the start date

* Proven expertise in providing ambulatory internal medicine care, with a strong commitment to clinical excellence

* Prior leadership experience (e.g., Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Site Director, or similar roles)

Preferred Qualifications

* Interest or experience in quality improvement, practice innovation, or clinical operations

* Interest in teaching or academic scholarship

The Executive Health program within the Division of General Internal Medicine provides comprehensive, personalized primary care focused on prevention, early detection, and long-term health optimization. The program offers a high-touch, coordinated care model with extended visit times, in-depth annual evaluations, and seamless access to specialty services.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $114,100-$344,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

For positions that are 50% effort or less:

See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $81,500-$246,000.
