This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, you will oversee the fabrication, assemble, and testing of wire harness hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of transforming the way rockets are made and operated.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the fabrication and repair activities of various cable harnesses, including but not limited to signal cables, RF cables, fiber optic cables, high data rate cables, power cables, potting processes, etc.

  • Ensure test systems are setup per Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) and Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs)

  • Assist in resolving operational issues found during process testing including but not limited to Hi-Pot, Kelvin setup, bandwidth/throughput, RF/VSWR, tensile and automated test equipment testing

  • Perform second party verifications and hardware inspections to engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures

  • Assist in the forecasting and developing recovery plans for constraints critical to vehicle delivery schedule

  • Optimize throughput by harmonizing raw material processing with production-cell capacity, test departments, and out-processing.

  • Work off-shift, shift work, extended hours overtime, and on weekends if/when necessary

  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision

  • Review work instructions and provide recommended changes where necessary

  • Assist manufacturing engineer write processes and procedures for associated equipment

  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications

  • Assist with transition from development to production, including qualification schedules and first articles

  • Implement corrective action plans to drive long-term quality improvements.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency

  • Develop and implement cost reductions processes and efficiency improvement measures

  • Implement and refine new manufacturing processes

  • Work with engineering to document and standardize production processes

  • Lead action-oriented tier meetings to ensure drive continuous results across production, quality, safety and personnel axes.

  • Setup new Wire Cable Harness production work areas, including layouts, tooling and equipment setup, etc.

  • Mentor technicians to improve skills; coach production leads in the execution of tactical production strategies.

  • Develop resource plans, training/OJT profiles, authorizing job descriptions, conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, assigning tasks, and conducting performance reviews

  • Ensure new hires receive required online and classroom trainings and the team remain compliant in their training records

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years in a direct manufacturing position, working on aerospace development programs or production lines heavily involving a range of manufacturing methods and techniques, in both leadership and hands-on roles.

  • Experience leading teams on rate-driven aerospace production programs.

  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.

  • Experience spearheading urgent production initiatives with multi-functional teams through the design, workorder creation, kitting and fabrication cycle.

  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.

  • Has worked with any of the following: IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739, J-STD-001, and/or ANSI/ESD S20.20

Desired:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Broad/deep knowledge in cable harness manufacturing

  • Knowledge to operate test equipment (Hi-Pot tester, Kelvin setup tester, sweep generators, multi-meters, torque meters, etc.)

  • Able to correctly lift 50 pounds, not color blind, 20/20 vision or corrected to 20/20

  • Basic math skills to read and use various dimensional measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.)

  • Experienced in handling aerospace components

  • Experienced in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
