This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
Blue Origin is seeking anEngineering Operations Leadto support the Lunar Permanence business within the Lunar Architecture and Certification Organization. This role is critical to the day-to-day operational health of the program, ensuring teams are aligned, reviews are well-executed, data is organized and accessible, and technical progress is visible and actionable. The ideal candidate brings solid aerospace or engineering operations experience, takes ownership of complex processes, and can operate with increasing independence and influence across a complex program environment. Key Responsibilities Program Operations
- Drive day-to-day program operations, including meeting facilitation, action item tracking, and cross-functional follow-up
- Own planning and executing major program milestones, reviews, and leadership-facing events
- Serve as a reliable coordination point between engineering, program management, operations, and leadership teams
- Develop and refine operational processes to improve program efficiency and team communication including execution of Design Analysis Cycles
- Engage program planning to ensure schedule integration and cross-program milestone validity
Review Integration
- Support planning and execution of major program milestones such as IDR and CDR, including scheduling, readiness tracking, and logistics coordination
- Maintain and improve overall review processes, procedures, and documentation standards for Lunar programs
- Manage Data Requirement Deliverables (DRDs) and ensure artifact tracking is accurate and up to date
- Prepare materials for and help facilitate formal engineering reviews, ensuring readiness criteria are met prior to each event
Technical Progress Tracking & Burndown
- Own technical progress tracking for program using Jira, Confluence, and other dashboard tools
- Participate in documentation of Architecture snapshots, baselines, and trades supporting projects as required
- Build and maintain filters and curated views to support daily standup and program meetings
- Manage agenda, notes, and action item tracking for daily program meetings
- Track and support burndown of decision tickets; monitor TPMs with changed filters
- Manage theHLS Integration Meeting (Full Program), including agenda ownership, Confluence page setup per meeting, and notes and action tracking
Jira & Tool Management
- Serve as the primary owner and administrator for program Jira projects, including maintaining and managing project structure, field definitions, ticket types, components, fix versions, and configuration updates
- Enforce Jira usage standards and quality control; perform regular backlog clean-up and ensure ticket hygiene across the program
- Respond to and resolve team Jira requests, including additions, modifications, and troubleshooting
- Create and maintain dashboards; manage sprint start/stop cycles, project boards, and plan views
- Identify and support implementation of additional tooling improvements to increase program efficiency
Data Management
- Own and maintain program wikis (Confluence), SharePoint sites, and other shared data repositories, including developing and applying wiki organization standards and templates to ensure consistent, accessible documentation
- Perform regular wiki content updates to keep information accurate and current
- Manage and maintain program email distribution lists
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related technical field
- 10+ yearsof experience in program operations, engineering operations, or technical project management in an aerospace or defense environment
- Demonstrated experience with Jira, including structure configuration, field definition, and user support
- Proven ability to own and improve complex, cross-functional operational processes with minimal direction
- Experience leading or co-leading formal engineering reviews and managing associated documentation and artifact requirements
- Strong stakeholder management skills; comfortable working across engineering, program, and leadership levels
- Ability to identify gaps in processes and independently develop and implement solutions
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting human spaceflight or lunar programs
- Familiarity with DRD management and artifact tracking in a systems engineering context
- Experience with SharePoint administration
- Familiarity with HLS (Human Landing System) program structure and integration processes
Compensation Range for: CO applicants is $160,618.00 - $224,864.85 WA applicants is $169,624.00 - $237,473.25
